BArch, Auckland
- Julia Gatley is currently completing the degree of Master of Architecture at Victoria University of Wellington. She was the recipient of a VUW scholarship for Masters study in 1994. Her thesis will provide a history and analysis of State Advances Corporation flats built 1935-1949, of which the Dixon Street Flats are one block.
- The paper entitled "Privacy & Propaganda: The Politics of the Dixon Street Flats" derives from research undertaken in conjunction with her thesis. In addition to presenting the paper at the ACCESSORY/Architecture Conference, Julia presented the paper at "50 Years of Modernity in Australasia: 1920-1970", Conference of the Society of Architectural Historians of Australia and New Zealand, Sydney, 14-16 July 1995.
- Julia would like to acknowledge the encouragement and advice of both her supervisor, Dr Paul Walker, and Greg Bowron. She would also like to acknowledge grants from Victoria University of Wellington, without which her attendance at these conferences would have been unlikely.
